Re: Israel and Palestine
Firstly, I have been a lot closer to westminster politics than you have ever been and that is for sure. You are free to identify as an expert if you wish to do so. No innocent victims of a random attack like that 'deserve' what happens to them outside the disturbed minds of the attacker. And that g...

Re: Israel and Palestine
What a bizarre question. Please see post #3656 above. "I have not seen anyone justifying the Golders Green attack - nor have I seen anyone justifying antisemitic incidents or physical attacks on Jews." The question had not been directed at you so not sure why you are screaming from the ba...

Re: Israel and Palestine
It is the entire reason for the existence of AIPAC and AIPAC funding in the US as well as the 'Friends of Israel' lobby in the UK Houses of Parliament. I know for a fact that Conservative Party Councillors hunting for a nod to be a candidate for MP in the UK have to have the rule run over them by t...

Re: Israel and Palestine
The charge of antisemitism is clearly being used as a cloak to try to suppress criticism of zionism and the apartheid state of Israel. It is the basic technique used by Israeli propagandists. How? I haven’t seen anything of this kind so please provide evidence, which we all know you won’t have. I a...

Re: Israel and Palestine
If the attack was a hate crime, then who precisely was the hate directed at ? Most media very conveniently ignore the fact that the attacker's first victim wasn't even a Jew. There should be no debate over whether the police response was excessive - the video speaks for itself. Even in America, whi...

That’s not what he was talking about. The UK government is as cowardly as the rest of the western nations when it comes to addressing the elephant in the room that Islamic driven antisemitism poses, because they know that Muslims are no longer a minority that can be ignored when it comes to votes an...

Re: Protestor shot dead in Minneapolis by ICE agent
I’m confused. Isn’t she a trafficking victim of Epstein who therefore needs to be viewed as tragic and heroic? Or is this “victimhood” only applied to people who self identify as such, which excludes her from the list?

Re: Protestor shot dead in Minneapolis by ICE agent
If ICE arrested 400,000 people and 60% of them had convictions that does mean that 40% of them didn't. A more interesting picture may emerge with data on what number of arrests they made of US citizens who could prove they were US citizens at time of arrest. And of course there is also data to come...

Re: Protestor shot dead in Minneapolis by ICE agent
If you scooped up the entire stadium of fans at the average US professional football game I'd say it is likely that half of them would have some form of criminal charge or conviction on their record. On your figures alone (unattributed to any source I notice) you are attempting to justify arresting...

Possible? Sure. But as I said it’s nothing but idiotic to throw theories like this into the room unless you have evidence, or if you are only interested in stoking conspiracy theories, which most people on this thread seem to want to do anyway.

Re: Protestor shot dead in Minneapolis by ICE agent
I don't think you have noticed the similarity between Jonathan Ross being shifted to a new parish and an admin role to keep him out of the way of the media. Do you not recall the infamous church hideout known as 'undisclosed location' in the US when a cleric was on the run? No, I don’t. And it’s pr...

“The ICE agents are very welcome to try and portray themselves as victims. But it would be ill-advised.” Not what I said at all, but I’m also not surprised that my words are once again being twisted around. “Remarkable the similarity between Border Patrol/ICE and the catholic church.” Honestly, look...

Had this been the other way around people would be accusing the agents of “abusing” the poor, naive little women (like in the Mark Jenner case).

Re: EU consent definition change
Obviously it'll still be a matter of evidence as to whether there was indeed coercion or violence, but where there's no corroboration (as there frequently isn't) maybe the future principle will be that it'll be a matter for the court to decide which party they believe, rather than expecting the vic...

EU consent definition change
Now, maybe I’m a bit thick but I genuinely don’t understand how this is supposed to close any loopholes: “The European Parliament’s resolution, passed on Tuesday by an overwhelming margin, urges all EU member states to adopt an only “yes means yes” legal standard for consent while recognizing that a...

Re: How do gardaí weigh the right to protest with the rights of those affected?
I don’t think anybody argued that protests in general should be criminalised or banned, but that there need to be boundaries agreed and adhered to to avoid a country descending into chaos. What happened in Ireland a few weeks ago was less of a protest, and more of a deliberate disruption, which is e...

Exactly the response that I had expected.
I was referring to the empty vessels that never have a genuine opinion or argument and rely on others to provide theirs, so they can piggy back on them and coast by. Same principle in the workplace or internet echo chambers, or any other place I guess.

Re: TD gives glowing character ref to convicted child abuser - while remaining anonymous!
I think the court has some questions to answer. There was a considerable overreach in granting anonymity to a character referee and the question in my mind was whether the former TD requested the anonymity or whether the court decided off its own back to withhold the information from the public dom...

Ironically this example of religious fanaticism and the belief that everyone needs to bow to their whims is mirrored exactly in the trans cult movement, too.
It’s two extremes that have clashed which has only bolstered the trans rights corner.

Re: Burke family, Castlebar
There can be few societies outside of the dusty hillsides of the middle east more benighted by tolerance of religious lunatics than Ireland- and they always come with the notion that they should lead and make social policy because of the little voice in their head they call 'god'. The Burkes have c...
